According to the latest trends of the Election Commission, a voter turnout of 57.79% has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh till now.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said on Wednesday suggested the BJP to observe silence for its 2017 manifesto as the saffron party could not fulfill the promises made 5 years ago.

“We’re proud to have families. A family person will not run away with jhola (bag) and leave family behind. During lockdown, if CM had a family, he would’ve understood the pain of labourers walking miles to reach their home,” Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav told news agency ANI.

Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president OP Rajbhar slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the bail granted to Union minister Ajay Kumar’s son Ashish in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. 

Speaking to news agency ANI, Rajbhar said the bail was given to garner Brahmin votes and send a message to the community that this bail is the result of their efforts. 

The Congress party on Thursday released its ninth list of 33 candidates for the assembly elections in UP. 

Ashish Mishra, the prime accused in the October 3 Lakhimpur Kheri incident, was granted bail by the high court on Thursday. He is the son of Union minister Ajay Mishra.

According to the latest trends of the Election Commission, a voter turnout of 35.03% has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh till now.

Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary on Thursday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘two boys’ jibe by saying that the latter can call him whatever he wants. 

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday requested the Election Commission to take appropriate action at polling stations that have reported malfunctioning of the EVMs. 

Amid the first phase of voting, Uttar Pradesh’s chief electoral officer said on Wednesday that all complaints regarding the malfunction of EVMs and VVPATs are being addressed immediately. 

Ahead of his wedding on Thursday, Ankur Balyan was seen casting his vote at a polling station in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. 

According to the latest trends of the Election Commission, a voter turnout of 20.03% has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh till now. 

“I am impressed with Priyanka Gandhi’s ‘Ladki hu, Lad Sakti hun’,” first-time voter Arisha Saud said, adding that she has given the vote for building a strong nation.

Union minister Gen (retd) VK Singh said the issues of farmers’ protests do not affect west UP. 

“It’s a sugarcane belt, farmers received their amount. Sugar mills opened, so this isn’t an issue. Farmers can see for themselves,” ANI quoted Singh as saying. 

Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary will not cast his vote today because of his election rally, reported news agency ANI. Jayant Chaudhary is a voter of the Mathura region.

Despite cold day conditions and foggy weather in western Uttar Pradesh, the voter turnout remained over 8% in most of the Uttar Pradesh districts. The polling percentage in Agra and Mathura was 8.1% and 8.4%, respectively.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra urged the voters of western Uttar Pradesh to use the power of the vote to build a better future for the state. Extending best wishes to Congress workers and candidates, she said they should be proud of the fact that the party is fighting on all seats of Uttar Pradesh.

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Srikant Sharma, a minister in Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet, offered prayer in Mathura on the polling day.

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Agra rural Baby Rani Maurya expressed confidence that the UP electorate will vote for BJP for good governance in the state.

“I am confident that the citizens will vote in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party for good governance in the State,” the BJP leader told news agency ANI.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi urged voters to come out and vote to free the country “from every fear.”

Uttar Pradesh is one of the most rural states in the country, but that is not the case with the ACs in the first phase. The aggregate share of rural population in this region is 58.4% compared to 81.1% in the rest of the state, according to the 2011 Census. Read more…
