Past 24 hours में अधिकांश जिलों के daytime temperature में गिरावट दर्ज की गई।
सर्दी ने शहर को इस कदर freeze कर दिया कि साल के final दिन लोग sunshine की एक झलक पाने को तरस गए। ठंड इतनी ज्यादा थी कि बिना gloves के two-wheeler पर सौ मीटर चलना भी मुश्किल हो गया। hands और feet ठंड से numb होते जा रहे थे। Tuesday इस season का सबसे coldest day रहा। तापमान सात डिग्री तक drop कर गया। दिन का maximum temperature भी रात जैसा ही 14.1 डिग्री Celsius रिकॉर्ड किया गया।
मौसम विभाग के अनुसार, अगले 24 hours में भी ठंड से relief मिलने की संभावना नहीं है। रात का temperature 12.0 डिग्री Celsius और सुबह 9 बजे तक 13 डिग्री दर्ज किया गया। पार्कों में walk करने वालों की संख्या काफी कम थी। सिर्फ वही लोग बाहर निकले, जिन्हें urgent काम था। Most of the houses में दिन के वक्त भी heaters और blowers चलाने की जरूरत पड़ी।

Auto और two-wheeler चलाने वालों के लिए यह ठंड किसी big challenge से कम नहीं रही। दिन में भी रात जैसी chill महसूस हुई। लगातार दूसरे दिन sun दिखाई नहीं दिया। Dense fog की चादर ने पूरे माहौल को cover कर लिया। इससे रात का temperature एक limit से ज्यादा नहीं गिर पा रहा है।
Amousi स्थित मौसम केंद्र के analyst और senior scientist Atul Kumar Singh के अनुसार, दिन में धूप न आने की वजह से radiational heat धरती तक नहीं पहुंच रही है। वहीं, dense fog की layer के कारण धरती की warmth atmosphere में mix नहीं हो पा रही है। इसी वजह से दिन का temperature काफी low और रात का temperature normal से थोड़ा ज्यादा हो गया है।
मौसम विभाग के अनुसार, surface winds तेज चल रही हैं, लेकिन upper surface पर winds लगभग stagnant हैं। इस वजह से धरती की warmth और हवा के प्रभाव से fog surface पर न आकर थोड़ा ऊपर lift होकर stable हो गया है। यही condition दिन में chill बढ़ाने की main reason बन रही है।
